At the heart of my practice lies person-centred Therapy, a humanistic approach developed by Carl Rogers. This is where my knowledge of cognitive behavioural therapy comes into play. By examining the connections between your thoughts, emotions, and actions, CBT equips you with the tools to develop healthier coping strategies and make positive changes in your life.

The name Exert was chosen because the definition (below) best describes what a therapeutic relationship should entail.
"Exert" means to apply or put forth physical or mental effort or force to achieve a particular result or outcome. It often implies using energy or strength to accomplish a task or goal.
As a qualified counsellor I work to the ethical standards set by the main UK governing bodies.
I also work with an independent supervisor to ensure my practice has an external perspective and quality control mechanism.
The first session in counselling differs from the remaining sessions as this is the session were you will have a brief assessment, learn to understand what counselling is and what counselling is not and how counselling works best when a therapeutic alliance is established.

- Contactless debit card payment during 'in person' sessions.
- BACS transfer, Paypal prior to a session.
- Cash can also be accepted.
While occasionally I may be in a session, if you cannot get through to me, please leave a message and I will contact you as soon as I can. I understand waiting can feel distressing when you are in a time of need.
